Major Negotiated Project

For my final project at the University I have created a report, of which aim was to prove that TK Maxx could greatly benefit from introducing RFID technology within their supply and to provide solutions relevant to RFID implementation.

That project gave me a chance to explore one of the most ground-breaking technologies. I then chose  a brand that, in my opinion, should implement the technology.

My primary research consisted of two surveys - one with consumers and one with TK Maxx sales assistants. The results showed that majority of participants found shopping experience at TK Maxx difficult due to disorganised shopping floor and inefficiency of customer service. Both groups agreed that it would improve the quality of service.

I proposed 4 solutions:

  • introduction of a handheld scanner

  • introduction of RFID-based self checkout

  • till system - user interface improvements

  • partial omnichannel implementation and its consequences

COATS X GRADUATE FASHION FOUNDATION

Coats x Graduate Fashion Competition

The aim of the competition was to create an upcycled outfit with visible stitching.

A silhouette of the final piece was mainly inspired by a fashion icon Princess Diana, who is my daily fashion inspiration. She mostly wore oversized, comfortable pieces. For this project, I focused on her wardrobe from the '80 and her spectacular puff sleeve dresses, including the iconic wedding dress.

To create the final piece I have used an old white cotton bed sheet, which originally meant to be thrown away. I then dyes the fabric into three different tones of earthy neutral colours, by mixing different proportions of brown and beige dyes.

The final products consists of two pieces, that worn together seamlessly transition into a dress. The top is a two coloured wrap blouse with puff sleeves, two-button square cuffs and an elastic waistband. The bottom is a panelled skirt made from three separate pieces of fabric. It has a decorative pleated elastic waistband.

Even though it looks like a dress, my goal was to make it as comfortable as possible, but also to make it easy to put on. Therefore, I have decided that both pieces would have elastic waistbands instead of being sewn together, and having zips or buttons.

The three main colours - brown and beige tones, are inspired by the Jacquemus's Spring 2021 collection presented on a wheat field. There is a contrasting stitching on the back, sleeve cuffs and the edge of every panel of the skirt.

Analogue Streetstyle

Since February 2021 I have been exploring unusual fashion trends on the streets of London.  My main goals were to overcome my fear of talking to strangers and to research current trends. While taking images of fashionable people on the streets of London, I could also to find out what and who inspires them.

This experience has not only allowed me to challenge my social skills, but also to practise my photography skills, gain confidence and meet people who share the same interests and passion.

It will give me an opportunity to show my marketing abilities and to build a professional social media account.

An Instagram profile called Analogue Streetstyle will be started in the middle of July.

Stalker Angel

Few months ago I have reached out to a Polish streetwear brand - Stalker Angel and offered to help with introducing the brand onto the British market.

The brand's mission is to provide ethically sourced, high quality streetwear clothing, all of which are made from scratch by Polish manufacturers.

I am responsible for the whole marketing process, from market research, through photoshoots and promotion, to shipping and customer service. It will help me show a wide variety of skills and ability of dealing with emergencies on my own.

My goal is to adapt brand's marketing strategy in the UK to the British market where consumers are much more conscious about inclusivity issues.

I am currently organising a first photoshoot that will include diverse models. I will have an opportunity to work with a professional photographer and see what the professional shoots look like.

The project required research and understanding of the current market. It allows me to test my buying skills I have learnt within the past three years of studying at University of West London.
